Odd timing or what!

Pope getting nutrition from feeding tube

VATICAN CITY - Pope John Paul II is getting nutrition from a feeding tube through the nose, the Vatican said on Wednesday, shortly after the frail pontiff appeared at his window in St. Peter’s Square and unsuccessfully tried to speak. Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said the tube was aimed at improving the pope’s calorie intake. It was not visible when the pope made his appearance. It said the pope continues “his slow and progressive convalescence” and that public audiences remain suspended.

CLEARWATER - It is not up to Michael Schiavo to decide whether his wife, Terri, should undergo an autopsy after death. "He doesn't have any choice in the matter,'' said Bill Pellan, director of investigations for the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner's Office.

According to Bill Pellan, director of investigations for the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner's Office, it is not up to Michael Schiavo to decide whether his wife, Terri, should undergo an autopsy after death, "He doesn't have any choice in the matter."That's odd, but didn't good ole George Felos say that it was Michael that "wanted an autopsy?"

He isn't going anywhere!

(AP Photo/Richard Drew)

NEW YORK (AP) - Investigators of the U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq said Tuesday there was not enough evidence to show that Secretary-General Kofi Annan knew of a contract bid by his son's Swiss employer. However, they criticized the U.N. chief for not properly investigating possible conflicts of interest in the matter.

Asked if he was planning to step down in a response to the program, Annan replied, "Hell, no."

Why Not Latin America's FOX NEWS?

heh....

I guess they didn't mention FOX because of how many viewers they have compared to CNN. If they really want any competition at all, you have to start with CNN, right? ;)

Maybe I am taking this all wrong...but why mention CNN if your not going to 'compete' with them. FOX is Number 1...so are they trying to become Number 2?

This quote fits right in: "2nd is just the first loser."

--------------------------------------

CARACAS, Venezuela - Loose computer cables, laptops and a video camera fill a cramped hotel room where a team of journalists are laying the groundwork for a new television network that hopes to be the CNN of Latin America.

With financial backing from Venezuela's government, the Telesur network is scheduled to begin transmitting by satellite 24 hours a day within three or four months, offering news and opinion shows from a South American perspective.

"We aren't going to compete with CNN. We're simply going to give the public it's own information alternative," Aharonian said. "This is the first time that we're going to be able to see ourselves through our own eyes."

Happy Easter to you too...

Don't take things for granted

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A free Easter dinner for poor ended abruptly when a crowd gathered for the meal got rowdy. "People were pushing in and yelling," said organizer Wendy Carter. "One woman was really out of control, and we called police." The police advised Carter and her fellow volunteers to shut down the affair at Gus's World Famous Chicken in downtown Memphis. About 300 people had been served chicken dinner but scores more were waiting outside when police were called. The dinner was arranged by the restaurant's owners and other volunteers who wanted to do something special for the less fortunate on Easter.

The affair was scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. It ended at about 2 p.m.

The Easter egg hunt of hunts

You would think the buyer would have been suspicious finding a load of cash in plastic Easter eggs. She sounded like a cool grandma. Unfortunately, no one got to enjoy what was surely to be an exciting easter egg hunt.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) - Plastic Easter eggs which a family mistakenly donated to a Salvation Army thrift store before realizing they had been stuffed full of cash remained missing Monday after word of the incident spread during the holiday weekend.

Thrift Store manager Paul Kolb said a woman came into the store earlier this month looking for plastic Easter eggs that had been among her grandmother's possessions, which the family donated after she passed away in January. "I hoping some goodhearted soul will come forward," Kolb said Monday. The woman had kept only one of her grandmother's possessions - her diary. After flipping through it, she found out too late what a special Easter her grandmother had planned.

Sorry Dad...

This is just crazy- IRS May Consider eBay Sales Taxable Income

Some people sell items that go for $5.00 and maybe they will make $100 for the whole year. Paperwork for $5.00 items? Also, you can't forget how Ebay gets some of that money.

WASHINGTON - Hawking baby and children's clothes — along with some garage sale and thrift store bargains — on eBay helps Sunni Wojnarowsky bring in some extra money so she can afford to stay home with her two young boys. The additional dollars are great, but does she really need to hassle with the paperwork and report her small profit to the Internal Revenue Service? Her question, posed to the online auction site's discussion board for sellers, generated much advice — and more confusion.

"When you're working on the Internet, it's kind of a gray issue," said Bart Fooden, a certified public accountant in Woodbury, N.Y., who advises small businesses and individuals. "The big issue is whether you're doing it as a business or not."

I can't begin to imagine how someone could EAT a receipt!! Then again, I don't even eat spinach.

IMPERIAL, Pa. (AP) - A former police chief accused of stealing tried to eat a piece of evidence - a receipt - during a court hearing, authorities said. Darryl Briston scuffled with a state trooper during a preliminary hearing Thursday and elbowed the officer when he tried to stop Briston from eating the receipt, police said. Briston was later charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. The theft allegations relate to Briston's off-duty work at a tavern.

HONG KONG (AP) - A Hong Kong man was arrested and checked for mental illness after he emptied his 35th-floor apartment by dropping its contents from the window, police and media said Sunday. No one was reported injured by the falling objects. The Apple Daily newspaper said the man was upset because he had recently broken up with his girlfriend. Newspapers ran pictures showing the ground near the apartment building littered with pots, books, a broken electric fan and other items. Apple Daily published a photo showing a falling mattress.

President on Terri's Side

The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.

This information was just given to the Gibbs law firm and George Felos. We have no idea how they arrived at that conclusion without an investigation.

Al Qaeda, blog, Wedgie!!??

CLEVELAND (AP) - Wedgie, a teenager's locker-room nightmare, has made it into the dictionary. Webster's New World College Dictionary based in Cleveland said wedgie was among its new additions to its latest edition. The new edition will carry this listing:

Wedgie: noun. a prank in which the victim's undershorts are jerked upward so as to become wedged between the buttocks.

The dictionary also carries the tradition wedgie definition of a type of shoe. "'Wedgie' was always a part of the high school terminology that you sort of never thought about later," said Editor in Chief Michael Agnes. More...

Saved by the bell

Talk about lucky!

NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) - It's supposed to announce visitors, but the doorbell of a two-story house announced something else on Friday morning - that the home was on fire. A fire was beginning to spread from the outside to the inside near the front door early Friday morning, said John Reding, Norfolk Fire and Rescue shift commander. As the fire moved past the front door, Reding said, the blaze shorted the doorbell's wires, which caused the bell to ring a fire alert to the four occupants of the house in this town about 90 miles northwest of Omaha. Clerk Laughs Away Robber in Pluto Mask

CRANBERRY, Pa. (AP) - The would-be robber wanted to inspire fear, but his choice of a Disney character mask to conceal his features provoked only giggles from a convenience store clerk. Cranberry police said a clerk at Gordon's Mini Market burst into laughter when the person wearing a Pluto mask walked into the store about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Goodbye Dan

As an honor for everything Dan Rather has done through the years, I will leave this post up top, until I post again.

Dan Rather ended an era at CBS News on Wednesday night by signing off as Evening News anchor with a familiar message: "Courage." Video and Story Here

Rather, who spent 24 years in the anchor chair, closed the news program with these words: "To our soldiers in dangerous places. To those who have endured the tsunami and to all who have suffered natural disasters, and who must find the will to rebuild. To the oppressed and to those whose lot it is to struggle, in financial hardship or in failing health. To my fellow journalists in places where reporting the truth means risking all. And to each of you: 'Courage.'"

Oil Fears Send Dow Skidding 107 Points

NEW YORK Mar 9, 2005 — Volatile oil prices and a weak dollar sent stocks sliding Wednesday as the prospect of inflation and rising interest rates sank in on Wall Street. Yields on long-dated Treasuries surged to an eight-month high and the Dow Jones industrial average skidded 107 points. A gradual acceleration of inflation and a rally in commodities have made investors increasingly nervous about stocks, as many on Wall Street predict a slowdown in corporate profits for 2005. Those concerns were in high relief Wednesday as the feeble dollar and bearish bond market combined with a rise in gold and oil prices to create a storm of selling. More...

A George Rogers Clark High School junior arrested Tuesday for making terrorist threats told LEX 18 News Thursday that the "writings" that got him arrested are being taken out of context.

I believe what he says about this, and really don't understand why his bond was raised. They say its serious, I say its foolish.
